Turning Life Into Art...

About Me
I started my photographic career on my 11th birthday. It was on that day in 1968 that my Dad gave me my first "real" camera.  It was a Kodak point and shoot with "EXPO '67/Montreal World's Fair" emblazoned across the front.  Technically it was my second camera, my first was in my "Secret Sam" Super Spy Briefcase.  You could take pictures with the briefcase, very cool when you are 10, especially if you liked blurry pictures of peoples feet.

I annoyed my family and friends for the next 4 years with that Kodak then graduated to a Kodak Compact Pocket Camera (about 10 larger than todays digital Kodaks) just in time for high school at Fargo South.  I have hundreds of pictures of family and friends and developed a deep passion for capturing the feel of the day. I treasure the memories that those boxes of yellowing photos bring back to me.

My picture taking evolved into photography during my sophmore year at North Dakota State University.  I discovered the 35mm camera, and the magic of the darkroom. I have been hooked ever since!

In 1980 I landed my first real photography job.  Packing my Canon AE-1 I went to work for The Towns Magazine, an entertainment publication based out of Moorhead Minnesota.  I got the opportunity to shoot concerts/interviews and hang out with the acts including, Harry Chapin, The Oak Ridge Boys, Molly Hatchett and Boston to name a few.  For a guy in his early 20's it simply couldn't get much better!  Things were fantastic until the magazine suffered a fate all to similar to so many other publications, we went belly up.

I went to work in the advertising industry and for the last 26 years it has paid the bills.

Photography remained a passion and hobby.  I turned my lense toward my wife and 3 kids and was ecstatic with the onslaught of digital photography.

Six years ago the digital revolution reopened the door to my professional pursuit of photography.  Initially I combined my love of sports with my photographic efforts. I have really enjoyed working with local teams, athletes and parents while capturing some great images all while taking in some super games and events.

I have since expanded my work into weddings, senior portraits, family, collector cars and fashion photography.  I look forward to every new challenge and am always open to new projects and ideas.

I hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon,
